The Gray Man Spin Off And Sequel In The Works

Netflix has returned with another blockbuster action film from The Russo Brothers.

The Gray Man, which is currently Netflix’s biggest film with a $200 million budget, is a spy thriller which saw its premiere in selected theatres on July 15 before debuting on Netflix a week later on July 22. Since its debut, Netflix has reported that The Gray Man movie was streamed for a total of 88.55 million hours over its first three days. It was the most watched movie in 84 countries, thus making it the fifth-biggest debut for a Netflix movie behind The Adam Project, The Kissing Booth 3, Don’t Look Up, and Red Notice. The movie was also well received by the audience and it is currently 91% on rotten tomatoes.

As a result of its success, The Gray Man has now moved from a standalone movie to a movie franchise as it has been announced that a spin-off is in the works. Scott Steiner, Head of Original Films on Netflix, confirmed the news of future Gray Man movies saying, “We’re excited to continue to partner with the Russo brothers and the team at AGBO as they build out the Gray Man universe”.

The Gray Man is based on Mark Greaney’s novel series, thus it makes sense that with such a successful book series there would be more adaptations since the novel series currently consist of eleven novels with a twelfth set to be published in 2023.

The Gray Man is about a former CIA mercenary Court Gentry, aka Sierra Six, played by Ryan Gosling, who is hunted after he discovers some of the CIA darkest secrets. The CIA then contracts Lloyd Hansen, played by Chris Evans, to track him down. While on the run, Sierra six turns to Agent Dani Miranda (Ana De Armas), a loyal and law-abiding CIA agent for help as he attempts to stay one step ahead of a global manhunt by international assassins.

Alongside Gosling, Evans, and De Armas, the cast of the movie also include Rege-Jean Page, Dhanush, Jessica Henwick, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodward, and Wagner Moura.

Currently, only Gosling, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and co-writer Stephen Mcfeely have been announced to be returning for the sequel project.  There is no word on when the sequel to The Gray Man is set to be released but you can enjoy the first movie on Netflix.
