With two feature films – Roti and Omugwo – out already, Kunle Afoloyan apparently has no plans of slowing down.
He has proved himself versatile with the delightful and unique comedy, Omugwo and his dramatic turn in Roti. He has also proved himself more than capable of bringing out the best in our favourite actors.
Kunle Afolayan also put out a short film earlier this year as well – Hanatu – just to make sure you know he is not playing. It is actually always a nice thing to see someone so hardworking, especially at making our entertainment industry better.
The Tribunal is setting up to be one of the most socially relevant movies of 2017 which is saying something because we’ve had a year in Nollywood where directors, producers and screenwriters are pushing the creative boundaries appealingly.
The movie has an impressive cast in Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Norbert Young, Bimbo Manuel, Funsho Adeolu, Carol King, Damilola Ogunsi and Ade Laoye. It follows the sorry of a has-been lawyer, Jimi Disu, who is approached by a young law school graduate to help the case of her friend who was fired because he is an Albino. This gives a Jimi an opportunity to redeem himself and get justice for the young man.
Here’s the trailer below:
Looks pretty impressive right? And you can tell the cast brought their A-game to the party. Omotola is still looking as fierce as ever.
The Tribunal will be in cinemas from the 1st of September, 2017.
