Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders Season 6 Release Date, Netflix, Cast and more

“I Don’t Pay For Suits. My Suits Are On The House Or The House Burns Down.”

Ahh…Thomas Michael Shelby. What’s there not to love about the man aside from the fact he is a ruthless killer and an extremely violent individual. But in this character lies a major reason why the Peaky Blinders has been a hit show. Cillian Murphy’s portrayal of the fictional character has got audiences glued to the show since its debut in 2013. Murphy has gone on to win an Irish Film & Television Award and National Television Award for his work on the series.

Peaky Blinders is set in Birmingham in the 1920’s with its focus on the Shelby crime family and their exploits with Tommy Shelby at the helm and the rather intimidating Aunt Polly offering a steady hand. Set in post-World War I England, Tommy Shelby who is a war veteran himself leads the family forward amassing power and influence with somewhat legitimate holdings across the Atlantic and even into walking the halls of the House of Commons as an MP.

The show is based on real life events, though the characters most loved by the audience are mainly fictional characters. One of the gang members on the show, Billy Kimber is the name of an actual gang member during the heyday of the Peaky Blinders which was in the 1890’s and not the 1920’s like the show suggests.

When Can Fans Expect To Watch Peaky Blinders Season 6?

The final episode of season 5 saw Tommy’s plan to kill Oswald Mosley fail. So we can be sure that the boss would be looking to find out who exactly betrayed him and thwarted his plans. The show is billed to return to the screens of the BBC in February of 2022 though no exact date has been given to this effect.

Is Peaky Blinders on Netflix?

Hooray Netflix lovers… Season 6 has been confirmed for February 2022 in the UK airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer but for those who are new to the series and have access to Netflix, you can also catch up on the previous five seasons on the streaming service.

Cast – Who Is Returning?

RIP Helen McCrory

Helen McCrory passed away in April 2021 at the age of 52. The actress played the role of Polly Gray, aunt to Tommy Shelby. In December, Cillian Murphy revealed that Helen McCrory would not be appearing in season 6. Communist activist Jessie Eden played by actress Charlie Murphy would also not be returning for the sixth and final season. Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson), Michael Gray (Finn Cole), Gina Gray (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Ada Thorne (Sophie Rundle) would all be returning as well.

The show would boast new appearances for James Frenchville and actresses Rebecca Keatley and Amber Anderson. There would also be a return for Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy), longtime rival of Tommy Shelby.

Released by the BBC on January 1, 2022, the trailer for the sixth and final season shows that it won’t get any easier for Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinders. The show when released would first air on BBC One but given that one can catch up on all previous seasons on Netflix, expect it to be released on that platform as well.
