Okay People, Let’s Talk About ‘A Wrinkle In Time’

Have you seen the trailer for ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ yet?

I saw it a while ago and let’s just say…I was processing it. First of all, I was glad to see Oprah Winfrey in a sci-fi movie. It’s always a great win whenever we see black women in sci-fi, simply because there isn’t enough representation.

The absolute second thing I noticed was that the cast is crazy impressive. First, we have my spirit animal – Mindy Kaling – looking ah-mazing and up to no good.

Other cast members include Reese Witherspoon,  Zach Galifianakis, Storm Reid, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peña, Levi Miller, Bellamy Young, Rowan Blanchard, Andre Holland and Chris Pine ??. Please, look at that cast – are they not all pretty impressive?

A cast this impressive doesn’t necessarily make a movie, after all – who hasn’t seen crappy movies with awesome actors…but when I heard the movie was directed by Ava Duvernay, I dropped all reservations.

The trailer itself is visually appealing; a charming display of the actors, makeup, set, costumes and visual effects – a delightful pageantry.

The movie will explore the story of Meg  Murry and her younger brother – Charles Wallace, after the disappearance of their father. Mr Murray has been missing for five years after discovering a new planet and travelling there with a device known as a tesseract‘ (Avengers fans unite). With the help of Calvin O’Keefe – a classmate of Meg’s, the trio go on a dangerous journey to save Meg’s father and the world, while they’re at it. Their journey  is aided by three mysterious travelers – Mrs Who, Mrs Whatsit and Mrs Which. The travel to a planet known to be home to all the evils in the entire universe.

Tale as old as time, right?
