Body Language: Ramsey Nouah Stars In Sexy New Thriller

I’m not going to lie, watching the trailer for Ramsey Nouah’s new movie made me very happy. I like seeing how far Nollywood has come. Nigerian movies are just killing it, aren’t they?

In recent years, we’ve all watched the launch of a new breed of Nigerian actors that I like to call ‘New Nollywood’; but alongside the new pretty faces and talented stars taking over our screens, we also have amazingly talented writers, producers and directors behind the screens. It is the collaboration of these parties that have ensured the magnificent growth of Nollywood especially when it comes to quality.

This is certainly not to belittle the movies, actors, and writers that came before them. Hell no. Without their hard work and the path they paved, the industry wouldn’t be where it is today.

Ramsey Nouah’s new film – Body Language – explores a genre that is uncommon in Nigerian theatres at the moment – the sexy, stalker thrillers. In the movie, Nollywood’s veteran heartthrob plays a silent mysterious stranger who gets involved with a stripper (Tana Adelana). Oh, there’s also a serial killer murdering women about town.

Serial Killers!!!! I’m here for this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is an uncommon plot when it comes to Nigerian movies, right? I’m not saying it has never been done before, I’m just saying it’s not a popular trope. So I’m excitedly looking forward to seeing what they do with this. I’m not worried sha, Emem Isong is producing this movie so you know it’s going to be good.

I think it’s really wonderful that Ramsey has been taking on really challenging roles in recent years. It’s fun for us to see his range and growth as an actor. His latest movie with Omoni Oboli, My Wife and I, is currently killing it. My Wife and I was very well received locally and internationally and it serves as another prime example of what Nigerian movies are capable of.

Body Language was written by Anthony Kehinde Joseph and was directed by Moses Inwang.
